I’m reporting on assignment in my home town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I arrived this morning, and have been surveying damage all day. Full coverage, including several great reports by S. Dawn Jones, can be found at the Talk Radio News Service.
Tomorrow I’m taking a small, chartered flight around the area to get a sense of the extent of the damage. I’ll then interview several local officials, head to vaccination centers, and talk with locals in low-income parts of town.
For now, here are a few quick pieces of media:
It’s surreal to see the town I grew up in severely damaged. The physical and emotional toll on the people who live here is tremendous, but it’s heartening to see the people pull together.
This site acts like a tumblog all of Dan’s stuff - blog entries, mobile updates, podcasts, pictures, video, and links - the best way to get all of this media is to add the feed. Thanks!

1Hi Dan:
Thank you for your very good descriptions and pictures around Cedar Rapids. We both keep a close watch on the computer and are getting information from many places. Great job keep it up. Must be difficult to do the reporting on your home town. We are thinking about you, your family and all of the folks in Cedar Rapids.
