Last night I attended a fundraiser for Barack Obama in midtown Manhattan. My report for TRNS is here, but I shot a few videos on Qik that I thought you’d dig:
Dave Fisher, aka @tibbon, attended the fundraiser as a photographer and took some amazing pictures.

I saw the incomparable Jonathan Richman in Williamsburg last night. The show was bitchin, and totally entertaining, as per Richman’s usual. NY Mag decided to use one of my pics from the concert.
Jonathan Richman Overwhelms the Ladies at First of Two Shows
Sorry, the restraining order prevented us from getting any closer.Photo: Dan Patterson
While Clinton and Obama were still counting delegates in Texas and Ohio late last night, a blissfully apolitical Jonathan Richman kept fare nice and light in Brooklyn. Looking as though he’d just flown in from Ibiza, Richman shimmied his way through the first of two sold-out shows at the Music Hall of Williamsburg
Thanks, NYMag!

Apparently I’m getting a ton of traffic from people searching for the Iowa Caucus …and men in panties.
Thanks, Googley!

Post-shock diet, I now have a cold from hell. I rarely actually get a COLD cold, so I guess I’m due. I’m sure the raw foods diet didn’t help my immune system much, and the temps in Spearfish have been well below zero for the first time in months.
Anyway, due to the extra time spend recuperating, I’ve been keeping myself busy by organizing my newly acquired Flickr Pro account. A small number of pictures doesn’t require much by way of tagging, sets, and organizing; a large and growing collection does. Flickr Pro is pretty cheap and provides unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage, along with the other cool stuff the site does for free like tags, sets, and my newest addiction: geotagging.
I love having pictures, but hauling boxes from Iowa to South Dakota to California to Europe back to California back to South Dakota has not been a lot of fun. Additionally, it’s quite disappointing to lose - or even be away from (many of my pics remain in a basement in Sonoma County) - pictures of important events. Having all my pictures stored online makes it easier to store and share them.
I just did a huge upload of pics from friends’ accounts. I did this because I was either present or associated with with pic, and didn’t want to lose the document. Whereever possible, I gave credit to the photographer. If I missed something, let me know.
Many of my pics are set to private, but if you’re a friend or family member, sign up for an account and add me as a contact.
